In nomine Patris, et Filii,
et Spiritus Sancti.

Shangannagh Road, Dublin Road.
Saint Anne’s in Shankill County Dublin was built and opened between
1931 and 1933. It is situated on a triangular or wedge shaped piece of ground
between the Dublin Road and Shanganagh Road on the north side of Shankill village.
The grounds are home to St Anne’s resource centre, a statue to Saint Anne and
the Kiltuck Cross, which was brought to the grounds of St Anne’s by Father Sherwin
and was dedicated in 1983. The grounds around the church have some parking and the green area is well maintained.
The internal aspects are laid out similar to many Catholic churches with a central nave leading to an altar with votive candle shrines in side aisles.
The overall feeling, when the church is quiet, is one of peacefulness and serenity.
It is served by a number of bus routes with the Dublin to Bray route having bus stops
on the Dublin Road side of the church. The Bray-Ballybrack-Dun Laoghaire bus route
has stops on the Shanganagh Road side of the church.
St Anne is the mother of the Virgin Mary and so the maternal grandmother
of Jesus. She is usually depicted with Mary as a child and holding a book as in helping,
as many parents do, to educate her daughter Mary.
Her feast day is celebrated on the 26th of July.
