Monkstown Road.

Just of Monkstown Road at the wedge shaped junction which holds

St Marys Church of Ireland church you enter Carrickbrennan Road and as you travel

some metres up Carrickbrennan you quickly will notice St Patrick's Catholic church

on your right hand side. The church is built in what I believe to be the Gothic revival tradition.

and is definitely a view to behold. It was not until I entered the main church doors that I realised

how beautiful a church interior can be with almost to much to view and wonder at. I could go on

for hours and fill many pages describing the beautiful internal aspects of this church with altar

stain glass windows' main rose window and many more. One thing I found on my visits is that

the building lends itself in abundance to quite afternoon prayer and contemplation. All historical

(construction etc) details of the church are more than well dealt with on the parish website at

https://monkstownparish.ie or by typing in St Patricks church monkstown to a search engine

It is a church I will definitely try to visit more frequently.

St Patrick is almost obviously the patron saint of St Patrick's

in Monkstown and his life and times have been well documented

so I will not add to that here. But I sometimes find that in the almost

melee which surrounds St Patrick's day festivals it can be forgotten

that anyone in any church can say a few small prayers to St Patrick or

any of the Saints for a good intent for a friend or relative.
