In nomine Patris, et Filii,
et Spiritus Sancti.

Glasthule Road, Summerhill Road.
The front facade of St Joseph’s Glasthule/Sandycove is a beautiful if somewhat
imposing structure, with one of its main features being a 100year old rose window
in need of some refurbishment, which is not surprising after one hundred years.
Its entrance is from Glasthule Road with Summerhill Road to its north toward the Peoples Park,
and Sandycove Road to the south leading towards Dalkey.
Also to the north of the church toward Summerhill Road is the Glasthule/Sandycove Dart station
which is about a two or three minute walk from the church gates.
Parking to the front of the church is limited but there is paid parking close by
across Glasthule Road. Building of the church itself started during the 1860s and
was completed in 1869. There is an excellent parish/pastoral centre to the side
and rear of the church.
St Joseph was the husband of Mary the mother of Jesus. He was a woodworker
or carpenter by profession and was carer and guardian to Jesus. He is the patron
of the Universal Church and also patron Saint to families, fathers, workers as well as others.
There are two feast days celebrated for St Joseph the first is on March 19th for Joseph the husband of Mary,
and the second is celebrated on May 1st for St Joseph the Worker.
